Top 5 Most Anticipated RPGs – January
By Heath | January 2, 2011 at 5:32 am
The votes have been tallied, albeit late due to international travel and various holidays. We hope yours were relaxing and enjoyable, and with that, we get on back to work and present the 5 most anticipated RPGs, according to your votes.
As of right now, these are the most anticipated RPGs. These games do not necessarily come out in 2011 — this is only an ancticipation gauge. (We have to say again: all games on this and future lists must actually be officially announced, so we can’t put stuff like “Final Fantasy XXX” or “World of Warcraft 2,” even though that would be awesome.
If you’re wondering “Why no Elder Scrolls V?” it’s a pretty easy guess, actually. Votes for this one go fom this morning back to the middle of November, so despite the game’s late push, it didn’t crack the top 5. I thought it would, but the holidays seemed to slow everything down.
5) Tales of Graces f (PS3)
This one’s out in Japan now and has been selling well. Will Namco Bandai translate it? Take a second to lob a water balloon at the company’s Twitter if you haven’t already. Can’t hurt. Hopefully the Top 5 votes still coming in for this game sends another kind of message, as this one is still represented well in our inboxes.
4) Mass Effect 3 (PC, 360, PS3)
This game was started of many “new” (old argument, different day) console war “discussions” when it was announced that it would be multiconsole from day 1. Stationeers were all like “I’m gonna pretend I don’t care that I still can’t play the original Mass Effect!” and Xbots were all like “I’m gonna pretend that’s the defining factor in this whole argument, like the other 2 are useless without the keystone of the original!” It was funny because both sides would have readily used each other’s arguments if their situations were reversed. I for one am ready for the end of the world, is what I’m trying to say, kids.
3) Diablo III (PC)
“…you can’t NOT be excited for a sequel to the most addictive RPG of the whole damn decade.” -Jason, via email
2) Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (PSP)
“Easily my most anticipated game of 2011, not just RPG.” -Gifford, via email
1) The Witcher 2 (PC, rumored for consoles though that’s unconfirmed)
For the first time, the same game has held onto the top spot on the countdown two months straight. One more and that’s a hot streak, ladies and gents. Given the previous Witcher title’s quality, the heat is probably warranted.
