Shop Watch May 2011

By Russ | May 8, 2011 at 5:20 pm

All of the titles this month are available for the PC.  There’s some multi-platform releases, but this is really a PC month.

I admit to knowing jack about most PC titles.  I admit to being exceedingly lazy.  So I’ll just go ahead admit this column is kinda going to suck information-wise.

Titles shipping the week of May 1

Dark Spore, published by EA (PC).  If the title hadn’t been plastered all over GameFAQs I’d have never noticed it.  An Action RPG for the PC, Dark Spore wants you to think it’s badass by using a class-based system to handle situations.  Uh… that describes most RPGs from the SNES days.

Titles shipping the week of May 15

Fable III, published by Microsoft (PC).  Fable III gets an inevitable PC port.  Save the chickens!

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, published by Atari (PC).  The first Witcher title garnered some fairly critical acclaim.  The second title looks to be about regicide?  I think we’ve all killed a few kings in our virtual lifetimes.  Now players can kill several in one sitting!

Titles shipping the week of May 22

Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale, published by Atari (PC, Xbox Live).  Another dungeon crawler for the PC and Live, this title brings players back to the familiar D&D setting.  Rumors abound about this being a quality title.  Look for  a demo and decide for yourself.

Titles shipping the week of May 31

Hunted:  The Demon’s Forge, published by Bethesda (PC, PS3, 360)  The first in line of those Dragon Age clones I referred to last month.  Bethesda is a decent developer, but they’ve also shoveled out a lot of crap.  What will Hunted be?

Some Advice:  Everything here will hit the $15 to $20 price.  Probably a lot quicker than you think.

The Future:  Record of Agarest War Zero, Dungeon Siege III and… umm… not much else.  Sorry, folks.

All release dates are subject to change.  Games available for download will have varying or staggered release dates. The views of this column do not reflect the views of RPG Land.
