RPG Deals 2/3 – 2/9

Time to use a search engine.

Toys R Us is doing its ‘buy 1 get 1 40% off’ deal on all games under $20.  These types of deals have come along pretty regularly for TRU.  Probably the extensive amount of sucky stock in terms of shovelware.  Still, several good games fall to that price as well.

And that’s that.  The holiday season is mostly a glut of non-RPGs.  No games means no deals on them can be made – and even then deals typically only happen if the game sells well enough, like Borderlands 2 or an Elder Scrolls title.

On the the other hand, retailers do not want to hold onto old stock, especially since January is a slow month.  This means to it is a good time to comb retailers both brick and online for cheap games.  Hell, the Agarest series seems to be pretty cheap on Amazon last I checked.  The only reason I won’t post these deals is because it often is not Amazon selling the title, but rather a reseller listing it on Amazon’s site.  If the seller only has a few copies at $20 and then sells out of them, the next seller may offer the title for $30.  At that point it’s no longer a deal.

Brick and mortar stores function a little differently.  The titles available in the dump bin at BFE, Pennsylvania are different from what’s available via the dump bin in NYC.  You’d have to check – mileage may vary.

Anyway, keep your eyes peeled when you head out or go online.  You might be surprised.  Happy Hunting.

Disclaimer: Deals may not be available in all stores. Deals may stop at any time. Prices in each store may differ depending on location. You can try different stores to mitigate price differences, and always ask if a store has the item before leaving the store. You might be able to get a raincheck. Many deals are both in-store and online. This column brought to you by webcomics.  Most of the strips are unfunny but why do I laugh so much?
