Strategery!

All of this month’s titles aren’t known for their hand-holding, yet two are handheld.  Punderful!

Fire Emblem: Awakening, published by Nintendo (3DS). The next entry in the Fire Emblem series makes its way to NA shores this week.  Hard-ass turn-based strategy is the core feature of Fire Emblem games.  Fire Emblem: Awakening will be available in both retail stores and Nintendo’s 3DS store.

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legend of the Titan, published by Atlus (3DS).  Speaking of hard-ass game, the next installment of Etrian Odyssey is available at the end of the month.  In addition to being brutal and unforgiving, Etrian Odyssey IV will offer a casual play option for those looking to not die all the time.

Might & Magic Heroes VI: Shades of Darkness, published by Ubisoft (PC).  This expansion pack (remember that word) expands upon the conflict in Might & Magic Heroes VI.  This looks to be a download-only title so far.

Some Advice:  Etrian Odyssey and Fire Emblem: Awakening tend to be harder to find much after the fact.  Both games may enjoy a brief stint in the bargain bin but also tend to sell out permanently.  Most Fire Emblem games command nearly twice their value new, as an example.

The Future:  Nippon Ichi has more Atelier and Neptunia coming out way, but Bandai Namco’s announcement of Tales of Xillia really takes the yay! cake.  More Dragon’s Dogma from Capcom isn’t bad either.  Atlus’ handheld lineup looks to be very sharp in the near future as well.
