Dragon Quest VIII Mobile looks fucking terrible

Dragon Quest VIII will soon be arriving on mobile phones, and the results are nothing short of disastrous. Here, watch the video and check out the results first…hand.
The mobile version has apparently replaced the main character with a giant index finger, which is a weird directorial decision, but whatever. I guess it’s trying to be artsy or something. You can see the finger running along the map where the PS2 version had a character.
Battle transitions are as slow and painful as dental work without an anesthetic, and after the transition, the game appears to be running at negative 6 frames per second. I seriously am having a hard time imagining how this turned out so poorly.
