RPG Deals 4/26 – 5/2

By Russ | April 27, 2015 at 3:51 am

Question for you!

No deals of note this week, so let’s engage one another. Where do you think the current state of RPGs stand?

I’ve spoken of this before, but the JRPG is kept alive mostly by handhelds and publishers such as Atlus, Nippon Ichi, and Xseed. Indie game studios longing for the SNES-RPG have also thrown in their efforts with some surprisingly good titles such as Dragon Fantasy and Child of Light. The Final Fantasy series has been heading towards more action-orientated combat and flow since XII, and even Dragon Quest has changed. Capcom’s Breath of Fire has been replaced by Monster Hunter and its close relative Dragon’s Dogma. Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne… not very traditional but very popular and enjoyable. Where do you think RPGs lie? Let us know on Facebook or just mull it over.
