Shop Watch October 2017

Gonna celebrate October with dragon-slaying, villain-slaying, and fart jokes.

The spookiest part about that is the fart jokes will likely outsell the rest.

This week sees Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on the PS4. An incredibly solid game is always a good way to start off a month, and Dragon’s Dogma undoubtedly has more players to reach in the wake of entries like Skyrim, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne – RPGs with a realistic focus on graphics and gameplay.

GaijinWorks keeps up Working Designs’ release woes as Summon Night 6 slips to an October 10 date.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole hits stores on the 17th. Let’s use phrases like “typical humor from the cartoon” and “pushing the envelope” or “the butt of all jokes or the end of all puns”. If you buy the game, expect numerous fart noises and and a rectal fascination bordering on obsessed.

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth for the 3DS also releases today. Go to Youtube and search for the ‘FOE music video’ to get back into the swing of things.

October 20 see Fire Emblem Warriors, as Nintendo’s main strategy series uses Dynasty Warriors gameplay to bring players the ability to actually mow down enemies on a fathermucking pegasus. FEW will release on the Switch and 3DS simultaneously.

The month ends with Knights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon for the Switch, a game where its female protagonists intensely stare at one another if the screenshots are to be believed.

Other titles of note released this month: Culdcept Revolt; a video game patterned after a board game with card-based battles.

Some tips: LE releases of Switch games can be a pain to find. If you score a FEW LE; good job.

The opinions contained within are not held by the entirety of RPG Land.
