Shop Watch March 2021

Gonna question some memories in this column.

I have been recently replaying Ys IV: Memories of Celceta. The PS4 version was released in the last year or so, and our household has been on a Falcom kick going on three years now.

Anywho, Ys IV is about Adol going on a quest into uncharted territory and coming back to his starting point with no memories. The game begins there, with the point to reclaim Adol’s lost memories.

I remember nothing of the game except the ending. This is my second playthrough. I reviewed this game back in 2013, and I love the Ys series as a whole (even if I feel IV is the weakest entry I have played). It’s also very odd for me to not remember media as media is kind of my bag. It’s a strange feeling to go on the same journey twice; even if it’s in line with the game.

Speaking of weird features, Neptunia Virtual Stars! released last week and one of the game’s features is VTubers which jump into for assists. I assume these are in-game NPCs, because otherwise that sounds annoying. The Neptunia series is already a meta potluck.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon brings the series into a full RPG combat system.

Next up are some re-releases for the Switch. Kingdom of Amalur: Re-Reckoning and Saviors of Sapphire Wings/Stranger of Sword City Revisited.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town also hits the Switch. Story of Seasons is the successor/original name of Harvest Moon.

Monster Hunter: Rise caps out this month. Monster Hunter fans are already chomping at the bit for this title.

Hope there are some titles players can make new memories on this month, even if they retread old ground.
