The Dawntrail leads to the Trails into Daybreak.

Final Fantasy XIV, Square-Enix’s most successful Final Fantasy game ever, drops its latest expansion at the end of this month. Dawntrail, releasing June 28, picks up after the main storyline was concluded in Endwalker. Presented as part vacation, part new adventure; the Warrior of Fight goes off to showcase a new melee job.

Seriously, it’s never a casting job.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is the upgraded rerelease many SMT games get somewhere along the line (looking at you, SMT III, Persona series, and Strange Journey). The original version was a Switch exclusive – and is being removed upon Vengeance‘s release – but Vengeance is cross platform. Which explains the Console Wars.

June 14 sees the release of the Monster Hunter Stories Collection. The Switch is getting a physical release, but only one game is on the cartridge with the other being a download. No other system is getting a physical release. On the other hand, the first game was a 3DS exclusive and is now available for consoles and my aging eyes.

Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree releases June 21. The expansion toe FromSoftware’s incredibly well-received Elden Ring allows players to become Maidenless once again and explore the world.

An item of note this month – at the end of the month a remastered version of Tsukihime hits Switch and PS4. This series is a predecessor to the FATE/Subtitle series and shares world and potentially characters there.

Early July, to the point preorders may arrive at the end of June; is The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Daybreak. This title places the focus in Calvard for the first time, and provides a mostly all-new cast to tell its story.

That’s it for this month. Play some games – the outside is too hot right now.
