NieR Replicant strongly outsells NieR Gestalt in Japanese debuts
By Heath | May 6, 2010 at 9:15 pm
As Japanese software sales figures emerge, the PS3’s NieR Replicant, as expected, handily outsold the Xbox 360’s NieR Gestalt, as the former debuted at #1 and is outselling its 360 counterpart about five-to-one. These are alternate versions of what is essentially the same game, though North America only got the Gestalt version on both consoles, under the less specific title of Nier. Complete data for April 19-25 below:

The Japanese Nier Gestalt/Replicant website was updated recently with two new promotional videos: one for each game. Gestalt‘s video contains English dialogue snippets, whereas the Japan-only Replicant has the expected Japanese dialogue. The website also posted information about the official soundtrack, which will go on sale for 2800 yen on April 21, the day before the games’ Japanese release. Nier Gestalt will be released as merely Nier for Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America on April 27.

However, as must be perpetually repeated, the PS3 title that North America gets will actually be a port of the 360 version. Who’s on first? NieR is.
