RPG Land to JOG AT THE MOON

We needed to do something drastic this summer. Something big — nay, something huge. We should run somewhere! Well, no, how’s about a jog instead? And to where? To the sun? Ef that, let’s go somewhere cooler, literally and figuratively. Sounds like…THE MOON. July 13-17, we’ll be walking right in the doors of some of the biggest development and publishing houses in all of RPGLand (I used our name as if it were a real, physical place!), asking tough questions, and you better believe they won’t be telling us sh–.
Dragon Quest IX to Japan: “I’m kind of a big deal”

Fun Fact: In Japan, as the first part of a census, the government simply releases a Dragon Quest game and counts the people waiting on the street as its single male demographic. Step one, taken care of! Here are pictures of the lines and launch-day love in Japan.

RPG Land to Merge With RPGamer

You may have noticed less updates on RPG Land lately. Our 10 years of not having advertisements has caught up to us, and the factory where RPG Land bandwidth has been manufactured recently saw 80% of its employees laid off. During these tough economic times, desperate measures must sometimes be pursued.
The beacon of light in this is RPGamer, as ever a beacon of light any website has been. RPG Land will remain independent for the rest of 2009, but then be gradually, wholly absorbed into RPGamer. All content, staff, and disdain for other websites will carry over from RPG Land to RPGamer.

Final Fantasy XIII

Square Enix released Final Fantasy XIII last month to a bevy of complaints and praise. It’s a game that is very hard to put a finger on, but many have tried. The story’s wonderful, the story sucks. The battle system is awesome, the battle system is terrible. How can so many people become so confused about one game?
